 this photograph was taken just before the sun rose ..
adjusted colours in my raw program .. not a lot .. it wasnt too different in real life ..
did a bit of smoothing and adjustment layers in brightness & contrast, levels and selective colour ..

these were other photographs i considered for this challenge which were all taken on the same morning because i couldnt sleep .. i drove 45 minutes to wollongong so i could get something for this challenge .. its the local pollutionfest in my area .. !! .. lots of factories ..

even tho the colour in the sky was a result of pollution i didnt think it would be obvious enough for the challenge ..

& even tho its obvious there are pollutants entering the atmosphere i didnt think this one screamed pollution either ..

boring in comparison to the one i put in the challenge & too grainy .. this was taken a few minutes after the challenge entry and the light had totally changed ..

What is it with you and the ability to take great photos of pollutants and ugly things maybe not quite up to but still stunning

Great effect from the 8 second exposure and I love the way the orange smoke almost bleeds into the dark blue sky (complimentary colours at their strangest but best)

Roz - somehow you managed to make pollution look beautiful lol. I love how the streaming orange blends into the blue sky. It almost makes you feel bad for saying pollution is so pretty. Great job and congrats on 5th place!

what a nice riot of saturated colors! nice choice of exposure to get the beautiful "star" effect on the lights. i like the smoothness of the background too.

I find the bright orange in the left sky distracting. Perhaps framing only the right two or only the rightmost cluster would have been more effective. The downward sloping at the bottom left also seems to pull my eye in an odd direction.

I like the effect of the longer expsure, although it seems as thouhg it may have been exposed too long. It seems too blurry.

One of the very good captures of factory pollution in this round. Great colours and balanced exposure. Would like to see a bit more of the subject, maybe there is a better composition there.
