 I'm not too experiences when it comes to flowers but had to send something in for the DPC Olympics. I was planning on a brighter shot but found out in postprocessing that exposing less got my backround color better. Hope you don't hate it! :)

Lighting with white shoot-through umbrella to the top left. Backround is a pink door in my home. Shot with Canon 1Ds Mark II I just bought today. :)

Love the color contrast and especially the textures on the petals. I wonder if maybe the second stem should have been clipped. A tiny distraction but would ad d to the beautiful simplicity of this image. Very nice lighting. Congrats.
I'm gonna make this my choice for the yellow.

Though the flower and the background are the same color, the flower still stands out. The contrast of the texture of the petal and the background makes this a good photograph.
