Guess who! Always tricky being both the model and the photographer. I wanted this to look like a concert poster or album cover. I lean a full-length mirror opposite my set, and with the back of the camera to it while it shoots on Continuous mode, I can see how the shots are working.
Had fun simulating a sinewy, sexy, early bare-chested-under-the-vest Robert Plant. I have a trunk full of dressup clothes and I delve into it every so often. The wig is actually auburn but blonded it out as much as possible in PS.
The bracelet on hand holding the mic is actually a clear plastic one, which I painted with black craft paint to make it look like leather. The mic is a cheap flashlight, painted with craft paint too, and the cord is just a cord. Thank gawd for Value Village!
Took about 300 shots just to get this. Would've liked to include the black leather pants and belt I was wearing too, but just wasn't able to move tripod back far enough.
Used 2 60w lights, one mounted high to simulate a spotlight, the other on the floor shining up from left side. Camera on tripod. Used the old Powershot as tripod is rather rickety, didn't want to risk the D40 on it.
I'll probably get a passel of DNMCs on it. Good thing I don't care!

Post Challenge - Thanks everyone for such wonderful comments! I really love having the opportunity to play dress-up! |

I never commented on this image but it was one of my favs during voting, still is. :) I can't believe I was one of 8 who gave this a 7.
4.7950 you got robbed big time. Unpredictable DPC voters. grrr :) |

Love this shot! The imagination and guts it took for you to think of this, and pull it off so well is very impressive. :) I love the grainy effect. |

Thanks for posting the story behind this one - you did a great job! I love the idea of a mirror behind the camera so you can see the shots - very clever. Love the shooting location, by the way. :-) |

This shot was highly underrated. I really liked what you did here. Abstracts, grain, etc. seem overly penalized here at DPC.
I started looking at your work and really like it. Keep up the great work. |

Susan, I REALLY like this shot. I like the grain, the crop, the model and pose, the costume (even the flashlight mic). I like the pastel highlights that look like stage lights. Your hair looks fabulous. I like the power and energy. You went all out, and I am very impressed. Wow!! |

Susan, you got the shaft. This shot was great. I was one of your 10's. I thought this was such a great impersonation of the Robert Plant style. The hair is absolutely perfect and I love the grain. I'm adding this to my fav's. |

I think you got burned by literalists who just wanted to connect the title/lyrics to the image. You actually did a very good job of recreating their look and time. |

Awesome photo, but I don't see how it represents your title. It looks more like just a shot of Robert Plant.
Still think it's awesome though! |

Not sure he's a woman, but it's a cool shot - I like the grain and it's an excellent "live action" shot (even if it's not.) |

Don't really care of the high key look or the grain. Also don't like the way the top of the head was cropped |
