I was out snapping some picture of the paper mill and its smokestacks when I turned around and saw a plume of black smoke about a mile away. I quickly climbed up the river bank and drove as quickly as possible to find it. I got there shortly after the fire dept, but the fire was down in a valley and I couldn't tell what was burning from my vantage point. The fire truck disappeared down a dirt road and I decided I'd just follow until someone told me to get lost. When I got down, the fire guys were getting their hoses out, but didn't look too worried about anything. I asked them if I could shoot while they worked. They asked who I was with ("I'm freelance" I replied) and they said fine. Unfortunately this is the best shot for pollution and it didn't have any of the firefighters. The fire wasn't that big and as soon as they sprayed the water the fire quenched and the smoke went white with steam. It didn't look as dirty. I still had fun being the "photojournalist" though.

You can find another shot of the firefighters here:

I was hoping to see a shot from you of The Paper Mill. I was there for this challenge as well. I had fun seeing if I could spot your amongst the group. Hope you and your family are doing well.

Yikes! I hope you had a long lens... I like the saturated colors but the framing seems off. Too much lost on the left.

Brilliant fire and that smokes makes me not want to breath. Not sure I like the border, but a beautiful shot of a stinky mess.

I don't like your annoying border but the picture has nice range of values but looks maybe too sharp. The smoke smoke also appears a bit grainy. Great angle and composition though.
