I think I enjoy abstract types of macros... finding balances of light, shadow, lines, colors and textures. I don't think I intended this to really have a focal point, I tried to get some of the edges in focus, but was more concerned with the light and shadow as I was shooting (and not getting the dusty windowsill in focus). The highlights are blown out in some spots too. But, there's something I like about it, and that's all that matters. I might hate it tomorrow, but that's a whole day away.

Oh, and in case you're wondering what it is... it's the wing of this little butterfly windchime. I propped it up on the windowsill in the morning light.

You've achieved excellent balance in this, between the real and the perceived (the shadow). I also like how the perceived can be either the shadow, or the light, depending on how you look at it.

My old sculpture professor would say that this has an organic feel to it. You would have gotten an A in his class for this!

The abstract look is very appealing but I am distracted by the blurry white on the right. No offense intended. Maybe this blur is part of the balancing of the dark sharp areas so I am inclined to like the whole image the more I look at it.

I really like the shadows especially with the greys, and lighting on this. I would have guessed some type of fork(or rusty salad tongs)

If you didn't tell me I wouldn't know. It is a nice image with good balance.

Lucky you described what it was, I would never have guessed. It is abstract and you're right when you say 'that's all that matters' when it comes to one's work.

Good detail and lighting.
