I'm sure there's going to be a million factories in this challenge. My original idea was to take a "visual pollution" picture (and I had one), but I thought it wouldn't go over too well with the voting crew. I took this image the evening before the challenge ended. And no, I didn't procrastinate, the weather has been horrible (grey) and I wanted a pic right after sunset since it sets right behind this factory and finally got my chance.

I don't know why, but I really like this picture after I did the noise reduction....I toned it down a little bit from my last photo. I know that some people hate this look. I did multiple clarifies which really brought out the smoke coming out of the pipe....but it added a ton of noise, hence the noise removal. I'd rather get dinged for noise removal than for an ugly, noisy photo. It's still a bit noisy, but if I did any more NR then it would lose too much detail.

I don't expect this to do too well.

*****
DQ'd b/c of use of High Pass Sharpen...didn't even know it was illegal. Image would have still been just as good without it....and could have made do with just using USM on this image.

This is a great image. I especially like the semi-silhouette of building and catwalks.

Appropriately grungy. The treatment of this is a little overproccessed with a strong bluish cast, but I think it works well for the subject. I don't think there is much in the way of eye leading composition on this, though.

i like the post processing in this one. i would love to learn your technique (considering basic editing restriction without spot editing) where you can save those beautiful sunset colors in the sky and show all these details in the foreground. overall a nicely shot, composed, and processed photo.

grainy works for this. Composition could be better. Maybe a tighter crop. The building foreground left is a major distraction.

I like the processing you've done. Something different. Plus the sky has just enough colour in it to add a little oomph.

Interesting how the scale is difficult to see until you see that semi in the middle. The compression of the scene gives it a surreal feel. Also the combination of warm and cool colours is eye-catching. Nice job.
