I thought of this idea when the challenge came out thinking of the teary eyed "mess" I would be when I watched a friend of mine graduate from boot camp and earn the title "United States Marine"

One of the things I like best about this image is how the Marines in it are faceless. They could be anyone's son, brother, father, friend and that seems to capture a bit of Marine culture where each Marine loses their individual-ness and becomes part of the whole.

After returning home and re-reading the challenge I'm not sure how well this goes with the intent or the voter's interpretation of the intent but it's what I have. :)

Nice! And it looks like an impressionistic painting.

Not very messy, but you got an interesting blur effect out of this.

I like this photo a lot, though I wish the one hat weren't quite so bright. You can feel emotion despite lack of any detail in the faces. Quite well done.

Works with the title - makes you think of someone (family?) looking on proudly, rather than particularly of the photo itself

With the title this really helps fit the challenge. My only complaint is the the really hot spot above the 2nd's head.

I tell they are soldiers or something, but I'm not sure the blur "adds" anything to this photo for me...

A good image/title combo and meets the challenge description well. I know its part of the uniform, but the bright white 'hat' is a little distracting
