I didn't vote in this challenge, but I loved reading the comments afterwards. To me, however, this looks more like a cave than a coal mine. Maybe if you sized it at 640x, I might see what you were getting at. |

I was right (well sort of) Congrats on the brown...I think? The fact that 3 people gave you 10 shows some were right on your wavelength. |

This is great, though if you actually went into a coal mine to take this picture I would like it even more! |

Woo Hoo! Having a look at the DPC lowest ever pages, you made page 2, and just above the bad "Kitty" shot. I see that there have been others to explore this dark side before you.
On the "bright" side, though, you got 3 10's and 3 9's so someone understood what you were saying. |

Spinal Tap said it best, "How much blacker could it be"? None more blacker. |

This leaves a lot to the imagination and is open to all kinds of scrutiny. I do see your point (I think) that the coal mines are blackening the planet and creating a Harsh Environment and ultimately ending everything. Is this right?? I think most everyone will be looking for the meaning that they can see and not the meaning that they have to try and read into the photograph.
Bst of luck. |

Very interesting idea, the size causes such a loss of detail though. :( |

I like the nice, even exposure here. Are you sure this is a coal mine? Looks like the inside of a closet with the door shut to me. |

I think we allow 720 pixels on a side now. It's just difficult to get much detail out of such a small image. :) |

Perfect tone, low noise in the image available. Nothing distracting in the composition. Seriously though, I love the implication, and the title takes me straight to a very dark place. Some may c 10 |

Too small to see what's going on :) Or maybe too dark? |

Well yes I guess that is how a coal mine would look if the lights were out. |

A look at the lowest scoring photos on this site shows many images like yours, so are you going for the "brown ribbon"? A coal mine is certainly a harsh environment, but I'd use a flash. |

They have lights in a coal mine... so i say you are a liar and didnt actually take this in a coal mine and are misleading us with the title! ;-P good luck, i'm not sure this is something DPC voters like... but it made me smile in recognition of the thought behind it at least :) |

Ok, you are going to really get slammed on this one. Hope you are going for a brown ribbon on this because I feel that this may come in last place. Sorry. Very creative though |
