This is a canyon that is dammed up. There is a small lake just around the next cliff off in the distance of the image.

Beautiful picture. Unfortunately the semitransparent aspect of the mountains on the left side of the river end up distracting the viewer's attention due to the less than obvious reason for the transparent appearance of the tallest mountain.

Love the shot. It certainly hits the "harsh". Somehow the green river just doesn't sit well. Not sure why. Might be just my personal taste, but lovely shot!

I'll find out what river this is at the end of voting.
I think perhaps there's a little too much foreground, but it certainly is a dramatic landscape. ;-)
