I'm surprised this didn't do better. To me, even tho I'm not an Obama fan at all, this is absolutely perfect in every respect to capture the spirit of an environmental portrait. And the technical aspects are so good! And it looks like your commenters loved it, even if like me, they don't like Obama. Prob'ly just a few too many that let their political biases affect their voting :( Silly voters!

Current, but photojournalistic more so than environmental, I think??? Good comp, color, and a classic hand pose from Mr. Obama.
I'm guessing you caught personal biases at both ends of the voter scale. Certainly not a 1-3 pic IMO but not really 8-10 either. You shoot the whole spectrum... From Punxatawny Phil to ... ;) |

He looks like he's trying to make an important point in this picture from the way he's holding his hands |

The environment is clearly defined and is clearly defining your subject. Your subject is doing what he does in this environment. All elements of this challenge are here. I think your downfall is that Obama is such an animated speaker and this shot doesn't really capture that. It's hard, when your subject is so well known, to really capture what the public already knows about him. It's like he just finished something wonderful, or he is about to open up and let the personality come through. This shot is right in the middle. |

Interestingly even as a Brit my first temptation was to think 'oh no not another shot of the democratic candidate...seen him a million times' but then when you stop to think about it this is a phenomenal photo for DPC. Outstanding sharpness and proximity, great colours and without a shadow of a doubt meets the challenge as well as any other photo. I hope you dont suffer from voter fatigue (political rather than DPC). An out and out 10 from me
Remarkable |

I like him but I doubt he'll be able to deliver...on anything
Good Luck in the Challenge and at the polls. Cheers! |

very good shot that will probably gain some politically lowered votes, giving you 2 extra points for more balance |

Awesome subject for this challenge :-) I like the shot but wish it didn't feel so tilted, but I understand that you might not have had any other option. I like the colors too, the blues and yellows in the croud match the signs and his suit. The blurred background is also nice. Wish maybe the whites were a *tad* bit whiter? Maybe that would have seemed overpowring though. Anyway, awesome image. :-) |

I'm not much of a fan of any of the pres candidates, but you definitely captured this man in his comfort zone. So personal feelings aside, a really good "environmental portrait". |
