Challenge: Marshmallow Peeps (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-30D
Lens: Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
Location: Ontario
Date: Mar 23, 2008
Aperture: f4.5
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/400
Galleries: Interior, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Mar 23, 2008

I had never heard of a Peep until my kids got them this Easter, so I thought what the heck. Mostly a stupid shot, made uglier by converting to b&w then quadtone. It may not look it, but that is a real Peep. Sunlight is spilling in on my old house's worn floors.
Apply image ( soft and mult), calc, gray, quadtone, burned a tiny bit, cropped smart sharp save for web.

Note: A Peep was harmed in this shoot. My kids ate it promptly afterward to avoid prolonged suffering.

You know if you look at the negative space around the "V" on the mouse trp it kind of looks like someone in a white hood. I guess it would be really sick had you used a darker color peep and rotated the shot...

ooo, yeah. dark in all senses. i love the texture of the floor, the diagonal beam of light and the leading mouse head. the slaughter of the peep is just a bonus.

Probably the coolest one of the lot imho. Really stylish with great lighting, tone and composition. Original and funny too. Great job on the b&w processing too.

I really like this one for some reason. B&W is a nice choice for the mood. I like the strip of light as well.

I like the idea for the lighting ... maybe could do with being a touch brighter though

Nicely done, the tonality seems a bit off. I like your use of the light here.

Oooh, and I though my own peep entry was gruesome! Well done.

Oh dear. Gotta hate when that happens. Really nice use of the light, by the way.

nice idea, lighting is a bit harsh, but I kinda like it, looks good in b&w, 6.

Great imagination, setup and capture. I'm sick enough myself to like this one too.

Great shot. I love the way you lit this.

There are many tales of the darker side of marshmallow life. This is one of them...

Film Noire Peep. The little face pointed right at us is perfect. Nice composition, actually, and it's almost poignant ... but it's a Peep so I'm still inclined to giggle.

This is my favorite shot of the challenge. I like the story....
I know those peeps creep around in my garage at night... I can hear em.

Awesome work!
