 Hadnt planned on entering the open challenges this week. But I have had this idea sitting in my brain. Asked Aimee to pose with Rowan in front of our office window to use just natural light. Popped off a bunch of shots and decided to go with this one. Kind of reminiscent of the sisters shot by Artyste. I like the simplicity of this. I dont often use natural light but have been wanting to for a while. This was a good reason to. I loev how the light gently drops off on Aimees back but that you can still see Rowans right hand coming in. Aimees face being absent works because you can still tell that she is resting her head against Rowans. The hug us gentle and relaxed (unlike some of the later outtakes). This is one of those shots that I hope doe swell (I hope they all do well) but if it doesnt I dont care cause this is a keeper for the family.

PP - RAW conversion, crop, shadow/highlight, hue/sat, selective color, convert to b&w, NI, resize, USM.

Tim, absolutely delightful.

The truly impressive thing isn't just the number of top tens (and ribbons) at the moment - it's the range of ways you are doing them. This couldn't be more different from your Tooth Fairy, one bright, made up, carefully staged, in your face - whilst this is gentle, intimate, B&W.

Excellent shot and one that I'm sure you will treasure.

So many of the shots for this challenge show people who are obviously close, but not all speak to intimacy. This one does it for me. Beautiful photo and even more beautiful feeling it provokes.

How beautiful! I don't know how anyone can view this without feeling a hug.

Love personified... what is more intimate that mother and child. Love the low key lighting... There looks to be a sharping edge along the child's face, the mother's wrist and elbow.

This is a great image. The tones are very good and lighting is perfect. The baby looks so happy to be with mommy.

Great depth of tones...looks a tad over-sharpened (seeing jagged edges on highlights) but will probably go unnoticed by most.
