Bear, your title made me appreciate this image even more. It's just lovely and I scored it high. Your title helped me see in in context and that made it even better. Sorry it scored low overall, but some of us appreciated it.

I like it. The silhouetting makes it clear to me that this is a study of the fractal-like patterning of branches. Clear as day.
But I'm weird, apparently. |

Verry OOB. I also have a fasination with tree branches, lol. People always gave me odd looks when I took pictures of them and showed them around though, so I stopped taking them and trying to show them to people. Now, I just sit and watch them out my window. |

Robert - I think your score suffered from a lack of scientific understanding o the viewers part and a lack of uniform patterns in the image. I quite like your vision here to find the fractals in the tree and feel this clearly meets the challenge well in a refreshing approach. I side with Deb that I see a bit much blue halo and I am sure some voters voted you down on it. If I have voted, I would have likely given this a 6 |

It's been too long since I've studied math with any care, but I appreciated the title. I've always wondered what fractals found in nature might look like. As a challenge shot, it lacks enough "subject" for the average voter, even in this contest. On the technical front, there's a bit of the blue fringing on my uberbright work monitor that may have put off the technical voters. From an out of the box standpoint, it's a very cool take on the challenge! |

There could have been more of the subject in this picture to make it more interesting. |

Not a lot to look at here. The patterns aren't very strong either. |

With a little research, I found your pattern. |

Good lines created which helped to move the eye. |

To me this looks like more the absence of a pattern rather than a pattern. |

I had to come back to check my low marks - this photo included. Suddenly I saw the pattern. Initially 4 now 6. Very subtle - or too smart for my dumb brain ;-) |

I am sorry if this sounds harsh, and I may very well be missing the point here, but this looks like you've just shot the first thing you've seen while looking out of the window. Again, sorry for the harsh words, but the subject just doesn't look interesting to me. -4 |
