Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Motion Blur (Advanced Editing I)
Camera: Konica KD-400Z
Location: Café Paris, Reykjavík, Iceland
Date: Mar 24, 2004
Aperture: 1:2,8
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1.0 sec
Galleries: Emotive, Candid
Date Uploaded: Mar 24, 2004

I needed to clean some spots on the image. Then I cropped it and applied "Apply Image" in "Soft Light" mode to soften it up a bit. To get the motion on this camera I put it in "Slow Shutter" mode and selected no flash and "Distant Exposure".

Greetings from the Critique Club...

My initial comment on this photo sums up my opinion pretty well. I think this photo could be a lot stronger with a little less blur. Based on your exposure settings, there probably isn't much room for adjustment though. It appears that you used your maximum aperture size. It may have been possible to use ISO 200 to get a 1/2 second shutter speed instead of 1 second.

The composition of this shot is ok, but there are two elements that I don't like about it. 1 - There is actually a bit too much blur in this one. I think that slightly less blur would help create some more definition in the moving subject. 2 - having the head clipped off in the top of the frame is a bit odd feeling... = 5
