Stopped on the way to work to get this. Not great light, and not as sharply in focus as I'd like.

This prickly pear cactus sure stands out against the darkness that surrounds it. It almost seems like some sort of strange fish swimming in the ocean.

This is really cool; I've never seen one so close before. I think it turned out fine. From the thumbnail I thought it was a rotten tomato, something I'm very familiar with toward the end of summer when I'm sick of picking/eating tomatoes.

No, don't say that - say you let the focus drift on purpose because it looks just fine - almost like a body part or something covered with tiny limpets - very odd and compelling image

Light is just fine - nothing wrong with it at all - any brighter and you'd lose the richness of the color here. Focus is just fine, too - in fact it makes this all the more interesting.

Fabulous subject - exceptional colour. Yeah it could be sharper, but oh what a great subject.

Very interesting. The shape has given an odd focusing. The middle of the prickly pear is in focus, and then a little ways out from the middle there are small areas of focus in an arch that give way to the texture of the plant.

What a great study in contrasts...life and death, dark and light, color and neutrality...understated and powerful.
