Story time! To begin with, I was robbed. Or rather I felt robbed, by the fact that I gave money - yes hard currency - to this man. Unfortunately (and at the same time fortunately) you can't hear this man playing, he is without doubt one of the worst guitarists, singers and performers I have ever encountered. He mumbles along to what are apparently "chords" which he eeks of the guitar in a manner that would suggest his previous instruments had been of a more feline nature, and he's not quite sure how to adapt to wood.
Not only this, but upon hearing any form of complaint he will stop playing to remonstrate with passers by - as if it's your fault that he came from the same school of musical education as my cat.

He was, however, standing in a nice patch of light and I couldn't pass up the opportunity considering this challenge. So I approached carefully, catching his beady and strangely manic eye, the change gave a hollow tinkle as it hit the bottom of his hat, I waved my camera and backed away, waiting. He shot me a look of triumph which was quickly replaced by one of resigned self satisfaction. He nodded slowly. I took the shot and made good my exit shortly before he lashed out at a passing group of teenagers.

This man is one of several "regular" buskers that operate in Ferrara, most of whom are far better and more pleasant than this man. Ferrara is also home to the largest buskers festival in the world, drawing in professional buskers from every country. The festival attracts over 800,000 people to Ferrara each year, and offers 2,515 hours of live shows.

The title supports the story rather than the picture, but hey... it's all good information.

You had some amazing light for this shot and you took advantage of it. Despite your story and your feelings for this man, you've represented him beautifully in this photo. Very well seen and taken.

Sorry to hear about the bad entertainment. The look on his face does seem to show that he may be struggling a bit. Sounds like you may have made his night by getting this shot.

Aaahh, now had this guy been an excellent musician and a pleasant person, would you still have had an excellent photograph and wonderful story to tell? If I ever get to Ferrara I would search this guy out! hehe! : )

I guess you paid for a nice shot. At least it wasn't totally futile. Great lighting.

Great candid shot of people in your city. How come he was unpleasant? Didn't you have any change?

Yeah, you've mastered the art of suspense. Both with your promise of the story and with this shot.
