Lisa, I've been watching your series here with great interest because you're taking simple things and making them into art, and this is no exception. At lunch I went out with the intent to do something similar but they did a controlled burn and most of the stuff like this is gone. But I'll keep trying!

Nice trio of colours, the selective focus I think helps avoid cluttering the frame with too much detail.

I love the little seeds falling out of the pods, and neat composition with the dark and light. I'm glad I don't have allergies, I'd be sneezing right about now :-)

Sweet gum balls...they are everywhere in my MIL's yard. Such a neat idea for photos. I never thought to photograph them! :)

Oooooh. . .I love how that sharp prickly thing pokes its glorious head in front of the soft blurry ones. It is such an interesting composition!

I love the way they look so dead, yet they've dropped their seeds. Awesome textures!!

ETA I must play round with my 50mm 1.8 more, I love the dof you've used here.
