 This was shot outside the Allegheny County Jail. This is a jail cell with some cryptic message in the window. I've passed this spot for several weeks now, but it's always in the shadows and I couldn't get a good exposure. And something about hanging around outside the jail shooting pictures didn't sit well with me. Today no one was around when I passed by and it was bright and overcast, so the lighting was adequate. I got this in one shot.

Funny you say that. I did consider this for the Centered Composition challenge (I sat out that week), but for reasons expressed in my image description, this was a difficult and nervous kind of shot. Conceptually, I love it, but techically I'm not real happy with it.

Yeah, you just don't want them taking pictures of you, right? Nice composition - would have worked well for the Centered challenge. The undecipherable message certainly gives this more interest.

I really like the centered composition, and square crop. I can only guess that the message in the window is to someone he/she misses on the outside. If only missing someone would be enough to keep the person from being a repeat offender.
