I bet those ginkgo nuts come from the ladies who collect them in Hamilton Fish Park every autumn. Looks longevitous.

I like the DOF, putting the main dish in focus and the sides out, but still identifable. It looks very appealing to me, and much more difficult to compose and shoot than a single item, such as a piece of fruit.
Maybe the sauce isn't sparkling, as you say, but it looks exactly as it should look for that dish :)

it wasn't you that misinterpreted the challenge description, this is definitely underrated. take out all shots of a single veggie or fruit and this would have made top 10. the foremost mango piece and the corner of the plate is OOF, though, but that is minor

Just commenting, not voting. Interesting choice of subject. Composition is nice, lighting is nice. Focus could be a bit crisper.

The plate and the placemat nice carry through on the Asian theme of the food, actually it looks pretty yummy!

I think the focus point is right at the edge of the chopsticks and the soy sauce, and also the matting looks sharp which probably means your focus point is below the plate itself. It is really unusual as the food looks really soft. I like the colours and composition but it's hard to get around the softness of the food. I think the focus should have been around the centre of the food on the mango perhaps. I do like lots of depth of field in food photos, but this has a strange focus thing happening...is your lens out of whack?

If you're not photographing for health magazines, you should be. Excellent color, excellent presentation, lovely depth of field and the very slight softness of the subject adds to the overall appeal of the image.9

nicely arranged, good props; good perspective/crop; lighting is a bit flat, colors could pop more, had prefered to have some of the rice in focus, too
