 I wanted to do this shot for a while and didn't steal the idea from karmat. (I actually stole it from somebody else a while back...) This turned out pretty much exactly how I wanted it to, which is a rarity.

Put diffuser in front of window, black cloth on ground, and set up cup with coffee and tried to get shadow and handle on 90 deg angle. It's close but not perfect.

basic editing except for cloning out a bit of tripod.

I have been meaning to leave you a comment on this one. Very minimalistic and eye catching. It is unbelieveable at how something so simple can be so pleasing to the eye. I like the bit of shadow in the picture but it turned out not to harsh by using the "screen". Glad my birthday present helped you out :oP Seriously, nice job on a shot I know you have been dying to take for a long time! You sure have an eye for creatng beautiful pictures.

I like minimalistic stuff like this. Great focus and the circular amidst the huge rectangle of black really is graphic and fun. ;~)

What a very cool minimalist photo. You would have to really study it to realize it was a cup of Joe rather than just an interesting outlay of circles and shapes to create a most appealing abstract!

FAR OUT .. !!
looking at this for a few seconds and i couldnt work out wot it was .. i was thinking it was a weird cd for a while .. then it hit me .. BRILLIANT .. minimalism at its best .. :)
