If anyone knows what this is called, please let me know. It's been driving me crazy. And there is no color shifting here, those are the real colors.

ETA: For those who asked, it was in full bloom and just starting to die. I took this one a few days ago and held on to it. Before it opened, it looked very much like either a daffodil or a tulip (with the same type leaves), it took weeks to actually open up. It only lasted a few days and then died (we've had a lot of really cold nights). These came up in the middle of the yard and we've never had them before, so I've no idea where they came from.

After extensive searching on the internet, the closest I could find would be the "Rip Van Winkle" flower, link to image. I believe mine died before fully opening because of the weather (or maybe the dog peeing on them, lol).

Kelli, very nice and the dof is wonderful! I agree with some of the others about brightening just a bit to make the flower really pop!

Hi. Nice colors in the capture and I like the DOF. I look forward to seeing your flower shots! I might raise the brightness of the flower just a little bit.

great color, and i love flowers, so i look forward to seeing your flower pictures! I would have darken the background a touch to make the flower pop more, but it in its natural beauty works extremely well too.

Wow, I really love the soft saturated colors and the dark edges. Truly awesome flower shot.

Love the colors (I would have lightened them a bit to make the flower really pop). I've seen this flower before but I have no idea what it is.

It's a beautiful world we live in. My first thought was 'day lily' but there isn't enough information here to go on & it's way too early for lilies. More likely to be an iris or daffodil (from another planet). It isn't necessary to know the name to enjoy the beauty & the excellent, almost 3D capture you've got. "D

I like the contrast in lighting between the subject and the background. It really helps bring pop the flower out.

It almost looks like one of the fancier daffodill breed, don't know any names, but maybe if you post after it opens. I like the colors in this pic, and nice detail.

I like the texture in this, I also like the purple. Very unique flower. IMO the yellow and green could be lightened a smidge, but I love the overall darker look.

Very beautiful, Kelli!

I think this might be a type of Iris - without seeing the whole flower with leaves, it's hard to tell. But it has iris-ish petals.

I'd love to see this just a tad lighter - I think it would really make those gorgeous colors pop more. Even so - it's an outstanding image.

Great start, Kelli. This is beautiful! I'm bad with names of flowers. We have beautiful flowers all over our yard, and I barely know what any of them are. I just know they do good and Texas and look awesome -- like this one :)

So weird- I think a hybrid has sprung up in your yard ! Maybe a daffy/tulip ! Very nice capture at any rate- I like the deep purple in the BG.

Very nice - gives a nice soft feel. Maybe a little dark though - doesn't quite convey that happy, spring-time feeling, more like a rainy day.

Its latin name is ihavenoidea whatitis from the yellow flower family.

It's darn beautiful and I'm wondering if it's in full bloom. Is it? If not then would you take another one when it does, pretty please, would love to see it.

Great colours. Sorry I can't help you with what it is. At first I thought it was some kind of jonquil, but the colours threw me.
