Challenge: Triangle Composition (Basic Editing)
Collection: Shoulda been better
Camera: Nikon D300
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC HSM for Nikon
Date: May 5, 2008

on the ground shooting up with the 10-20 lens. I found it great that this was left on the beach as it was. Funny how little things like that are exciting to me. Anyway, I wanted to bring out a bit more detail in the midtones and shadows so I opened in RAW edit, used fill-light, then opened in PS CS3 as 16 bit. Changed to 32 bit to allow for HDR conversion back to 16. Not a huge diff but did allow for some tweaking. Also used a subtle shadow hightlite afterward to enhance this. Noise ninja added contrast and sharpness to give me what I wanted.

I decided that I dislike the color on this - and that must have helped the score stay low - here's an alt that I like better:

I wish the colors were a bit brighter, but its still a good photo! I have a similar one (not on DPC) but its an old abandoned crane.

Great sky and the machine looks very monolithic. Nice triangle too. A seven for you.

Glad to see someone using a triangular composition rather than just a literal triangle. Nice shot, and I like the wide perspective, too, with the bucket as a strong foreground element.

Excellent. Great use of wide-angle distortion. Very good exposure. It's too bad you couldn't remove the tree on the left edge.
