I really like this shot, but just not for this challenge. Though the background is in soft focus(more like completely out of focus) the subject is not and I don't see how this is specific to the challenge at hand. This looks great for basic editing. Great job with the lighting. Keep posting :)

| Very nice image, but does not (to my eye) appear to meet the challenge of a soft focus image (the subject is tack sharp). |

| This sucks cause it is not soft at all yet it is clearly a great picture. It is so obvious to me that you have the ability to dial in the exact amount of softness... makes me wonder if I know what the heck I am doing. |

Ya know, I am sorry, but this is way too sharp for this challenge.
This image is, however, a great image, even though you have tried to shoehorn it in.
Color is very nice and not distracting, light excellent, dof excellent, comp. excellent, texture excellent, highlight and shadow is again excellent.
Because this image is too sharp, it is not anymore than a midrange contender imo.

| I really like the tones and look of this image and would possibly give it a 9, but this is a soft focus challenge and apart from the background which is supposed to be oof, then I don't get it. The lighting is superb...not sure what to do here...6 |
