Very good job on lighting the figure, but yeah, the backdrop pretty much wrecks the effort. Could a faster shutter speed and narrow DOF help blur the background? You may also need to put more distance between the figure and the background.
I also notice a lot of yellow in this image. It seems a natural color for the figurine but since the backdrop is also yellowed it makes me wonder if there is a WB problem.
I hope you don't mind the criticism, we're all in this learning thing together! |

You're right about the background, yet IMO it's just the one large crease that draws attention from the statue. I like the lighting and the reflector adds just the right amount of light. |

That's one thing that's really nice about window light...it really helps show detail well. |

The little statue is nicely lit.
I don't mind creases in a backdrop, but I'm not so keen on the colour. Perhaps a grey or black cloth would make the statue pop, as the colour, or reflected colour, in the background is a bit close at the moment. |
