After being off the bike for 4 years, I rode 21 miles about a month after getting back in the saddle. One of the things I have been doing is every time I hit a new personal best on the bike, I take a photo of my bike at the farthest point in the ride. I made it from home to about halfway between downtown Fort Worth and the Stockyards. It was a good ride.
Pre-challenge notes:
I wasn't quite happy with this until I converted it to b/w, then it popped. Maybe it'll be good for a mid-5. Hard to predict these things, but I like it, and it has personal significance for me.
Post-challenge notes:
Well, I got hammered with DNMC's on this. The comments indicate that many did not perceive this as related to the challenge. Colorcarnival hit it on the head, though. I was not conveying the idea of fortitude, but rather, documenting a personal achievement that I feel took some of that quality.
In spite of heavy activity in the DNMC zone, I still managed to come in a modest amount above a 5, so I am pleased with the performance of my entry.
By the way. Her name (my bike) is "Celeste". I don't name my cameras, though. |

Let it be known that it is a rare moment where I correctly interpret the intentions behind the photo lol. I'm assuming that you are using a shoehorn to make that click-clack sound on the wheels? hehe. Congrats on sticking with it! |

That is fortitude for sure. I like how you've framed the city and used it to indicate a long distance covered. Good luck to you! |

can't really say the feeling/idea is evoked by the picture itself |

Title does not seem to fit with the image, and the image doesn't seem to fit the challenge. |

Where's the fat guy?
I think your submission relies too much on the title rather than the image itself.
An adjustment to your DOF would be nice to further blur the background buildings. |

Beautifully captured and processed, although a stretch for the challenge. |

Heh! I haven't even started voting this challenge, but I know who shot this, both by the title and the bike. Great framing of the shot, by the way, and almost classic in the shoehorn aspect by the use of the title. :-) |
