Day 3 - Is a collection of the hand puppets characters from the TV series called, "The Land Before Time".
The original animated film, produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, and directed by Don Bluth.
It was originally released in movie theaters in 1988 by Universal Pictures. It features anthropomorphic dinosaurs living in a somewhat fantasy-based version of prehistoric earth.
The film's plot concerns a young Apatosaurus named Littlefoot who becomes orphaned after the death of his mother, caused from injuries suffered while battling a malevolent Tyrannosaurus ("Sharptooth") and the effects of an earthquake. Littlefoot flees famine and upheaval to search for the "Great Valley", an area which has been spared devastation. During his journey, he encounters four young companions: Cera, a Triceratops; Ducky, a Saurolophus; Petrie, a Pteranodon; and Spike, a Stegosaurus.[2]
The film explores issues of prejudice between the different species and the hardships they endure in their journey as they are guided by the spirit of Littlefoot's mother.
The film was a critical and financial success and spawned numerous sequels, merchandise, and a TV series.
Peter found there hand puppets in a box, stored in one of the wardrobes. They belong to Blake our son, who is now 25 years of age, who collected dinosaurs when he was young boy, as he loved them.
When Peter showed them to me, I decided to photograph them for this 'Slice of Life'. We are going to send them to his baby son Landon. We will send the rest of the more serious dinosaurs, from very small models, to one very large giant dinosaur, one when he is much older.
The hand puppets were bonus gifts in the year 1989, here in Australia, at KFC, when Blake was about seven years of age.
Gee, they brought back so many memories of our two children, when they were young, like the Star Wars figures, the Smurf's, and Matchbox cars.
Wow. I was 8 or 9 when that came out! Wierd flashback there! Lately, I've been running into a lot of things I remember from about that time. I just came across several episodes of "Captain Power", a television show designed to interact with certain toys so kids could play along. The show was designed to appeal to both kids and adults, but was deemed too violent for children after two seasons! Anyway... Thanks for the memory!
Wonderful story. It's always nice to see some old things again. You mentioned them: Star Wars figures, the Smurf's, and Matchbox cars. Nice to see a very nice photo of some memories. Just wondering what kind of background you used. I see a lot of brown leaves.
(and while writing this, you live in Australia, probably winter, while it's summer here)
Jeeze, everyone is getting sentimental with their slice of life entries!
Next time tell me to bring tissues - I am a sucker for sentiment
thanks for sharing the history behind the photo.
Additionally, My nieces and nephews took delight when we travel from NY to Florida and come upon the "Great Vally" somewhere in Virginia and they told the story of Littlefoot.
oh shez .. fancy finding these puppets nearly 25 years later .. i'm sure landon will absolutely love them .. its a great shot and a wonderful slice of your life .. :)xx
I so remember this movie. My niece was a huge fan. Thanks for the memories. I love this image, the colors are so bright and clear. Thanks for the memories.
