 This is actually from the other day but I kinda really liked it, had thought about entering it in the free study, but figured it'd get bashed for not perfect focus... anywho
Found this little hive with two bees on it out from the of the store, took a few shots & figured I'd come back out later to get some more after work. By the end of the day the two bees were gone, guess the hive must've fell & they might've taken larvae out of it to a new nest? Not really sure tho.

A lot of nice textures going on in this picture. I like how the yellow jacket stands out against the other muted colors. Great find.

That's one nasty little critter. Very nice macro, and I agree that it would take a hit in a FS and that's a real shame.

great shot .. i think its a paper wasp .. we had a nest near where i live hanging off the barbed wire fence and i took a heap of photographs of them over summer ... they live in the warmer months and either die off or hibernate over winter, only a very few survive the winter months to breed in the next spring/summer .. they're an excellent looking insect i reckon .. :)
