Poor White Kitty.
She's the most unusual cat - completely white with a black tail. I'll have to take a photo which illustrates that.
White Kitty was abandoned by people from my apartment complex. I've been seeing her around for years.
After the people left, she continued to sit in font of their door day and night. Eventually she caught on that I run a cat restaurant and started coming around for food. It was then that my neighbor (who also waters and feeds the abandoned and wounded) and I saw that she was missing an eye. I don't even want to know what happened.
The eye looked horrible, as well as all of White Kitty. She was thin and not taking care of herself, still sitting in front of that door. The people living there now had water for her, but never let her in. And she was painfully shy and skittish, too. I got a cat trap in hope to be able to get her to the vet, but she was so shy she wouldn't go near it.
Over the course of the next six months, she started coming up on our deck more and mewing when I talked to her. If I came home at night, she would be sitting in front of her former home, waiting.
Those people then moved out and a unsavory bunch of trashy people in wife beaters moved in. Apparently they didn't encourage White Kitty to continue her vigil in front of the door and so she was displaced.
She started coming around more and not dashing away when I came out on the deck - however she also kept her distance.
One day, Grey Kitty was also there and I was feeding them and White Kitty got kind of excited and almost brushed up against my legs. Well!
The next day she actually DID brush against my legs.
Then she came and ate while I was standing there. Next thing you know, I was bending down and petting her. As long as she didn't see my hand, she was fine.
Over the past few weeks she has become the most loving and affectionate cat. I really want to integrate her into my home, but my girls (both 17) are not happy about this.
White Kitty now lives under the stairs leading to my apartment. She comes up when she hears me, eats regularly, gets brushings and pettings. She has filled out and is grooming herself. Her eye looks pretty good, considering it's an open socket.
Here you see her peering into the window next to my front door. She really wants to come in. Send some positive thoughts so I can some how manage to get her to live her without my girls freaking out. Cat societies are sensitive constructs.

Awww, what a sad and touching story all at the same time. Thank goodness we don't have too many strays around here or I would be in big trouble. I can't help but take care of the abandon animals, even if it is long enough to find them a new home. I wish you the best of luck with getting her into the "cat society" within your home. |

What a sad story; I cannot understand how anybody can abandon a pet. It's fortunate you've taken her in. Good luck on getting her into your home. |

At least she knows there's a nice home close by. I don't understand people who are cruel to animals. Very sad. I'm glad she found you. |

Poor kitty! She is lucky she found someone as caring as you to help her out. I am a real softy when it comes to the abandoned and abused, you are the kind of person this world needs more of. I hope you can continue foster care, whether or not she actually moves in. I think in time your girls will get used to her presence and they will work it out. |
