 The Image: I love doing food photography but have not had too much success on dpc. This image turned out OK, but not as good as I would have liked. I was in a bit of a hurry. I actually cheated and bought the Friands from my favourite cafe.

The Edit: Levels, USM, Noise Reduction, Colour Balance and Contrast adjustments.

The Prediction: 6.1234

Post Challenge: My daughter saw this image and said: Dad, not one of your better images... she was right. I really don't know what I was thinking.

The Friands were awesome to eat though :)

Saw this in voting and though it was yours Enzo. This is highly underrated (I can't believe mine finished higher) I think part of the problem is geography - I didn't know what a Friand was until I googled it and I wonder how many voters were the same. :-( Now I know, I want to try one lol.

This image looks great though. I have to agree with Techo about the way you always make your food shots look natural, arranging the table decorations/wine etc around the shot and somehow makng it look casual, almost effortless, and not at all "stagey" and artificial. Your use of DOF really adds to that - I don't agree with the commenter who criticised it, I think it's perfect here. The only technical criticism I'd make is the topping on the Friands seems a bit bright - not quite blown out but a bit bright for my taste nonetheless. I'm not too sure about the lemons but as I don't know the dish I shan't criticise ;-)

Perhaps this isn't your best shot but then you have very high standards. I can't emphasise that last sentence enough. Keep it up Enzo, more food pics please :-)

Your compositions are brilliant. It's like an environmental food portrait. The way you incorporate things in to the image and not make it look too busy. Perhaps the lemons seem slightly out off place? are they normally eaten with friands? Not your best food image but it's very far from bad. Underrated for sure. A very nice addition to your portfolio.

I'd give it a bit more depth of field and/or loose that distracting round thing in the background. other than that, quite tasty looking (:
