These little floweers (with long grassblade leaves) grow in the shade. This shot was underexposed. While working on it, I tried to savor the feeling of growing in the shade. I will be working on old photos--mining the archives for gold--for this is tornado season, very hot & muggy, a good time to lean back in the lazyboy & work on my photoshop skills.

This is a splendid portrait of the spiderwort. I speak from many a failed experience. Just enough light to get those hairy thingums and the colours and textures in the petals.

Love the lighting - the dark shadowed green of the leaves against the vibrant blue of the flower.

Love the colour here. Good decision to underexpose to bring out the deep hues. DOF is very deep too. Well done.

Purple is one of my favorite colors, along with blue, and even black.
This is so vibrant and so pleasing to the eye.
A great start from you.....

Thanks you for sharing this floral image with us.
Our journey has just begun.....

Spiderwort
(Commelinaceae)
Tradescantia Occidentalis
Also called: Widows Tears
I would be lucky to find any of these blooming in the wild at this time in my area, they usually bloom a bit earlier than August, however they are also cultivated in some gardens, which sometimes can prolong them. Some variation of colour can sometimes be evident - they can be a lighter blue or white. This is an excellent flower, I find them in dry hillsides & near RR tracks.

Thanks for the comments! MaryO this is not a trillium. I'll remember it, eventually.

Look at all those wonderful feathery bits :-))) Beautiful colors and it does feel cool and shady (which would be a nice change of pace for me right about now!). I like the soft lighting, too.

The flower looks like a blue Trillium, maybe? Do you know? It's lovely.

Love those heavenly blues. Beautifully composed and great example of use of lights and darks.

Um? 173? This one's worthy of a really nice title.
