High-contrast, high-grain version of a Desert Four O'Clock after the blossom has faded and the plant has started to set seed.

It's not a great photo, but I'm trying to learn more about all of the editing options in Aperture, so will be using many of the effects to excess in the Flower challenge, just to experiment.

I really like this - very artistic - with the heavy grain, it looks like pointillism

Edit to add web link...

the grain really provides a wonderful artist contrast to so many of the other approaches - very graphic in feel

Looks like one of those dances where everyone is in a line and then one after another falls out to the side. The flower and it's closest leaf went first ;-) Either that, or they're playing peek-a-boo.

Would be interested to know what you used in Aperture to get this effect. I like the composition.

Yes, I like the grainy effect in this one, and yes, it does have a painterly effect. Well done.....

Thanks you for sharing this floral image with us.
Our journey has just begun.

Very interesting edit! It gives it a watercolor/painting effect. Lovely muted colors.

I like the grainyness you got through the high iso. I wonder why that technique isn't used more often. I'm surprised the shutter was that slow.

Great composition, would be interesting to play around with making the flower colour a little more vivid.

Almost looks like a painting. Hey. You were encouraged to experiment and experiment you did. My only comment is that I would like the background top left as dark as bottom right.

This thumbnail just jumped off the page. It's an original edit
of an interesting flower. Plus those leaves very much let you know
they are part of the composition.

Really, terrific. Unusual. Keep 'em coming.
