Day 2 of 30 Flowers

I will probably be posting a lot of pictures of these Cosmos, as I have been obsessed with them all summer. One, because they are lovely and airy and cheery, and two because the seeds were given to me by a dear friend who passed away a year and a half ago. I can't tell you how much I LOVE having something of her growing here in my garden :-)))

Taken at dusk with the 12mm teleconverter and using the flash dialed down to -2. Worked remarkably well as this is close to straight out of the camera! Ordinarily I might have cleaned up a few things but they're kind of cool: a tiny, barely visible strand of webbing between two petals on the right and a miniscule white spider on the bottom left petal. They add character ;-)

PP - converted from RAW, rotated upside-right, levels, added border, resized, sharpened with noise reduction.

The tiny spider is so cute! This happens to me often - I come home and discover all those bugs on my flower shots :))

The black, orange, green is lovely!

Great job with the lighting, I would have never guesses that it was taken outside -- it really looks like a studio shot.

very good choice of lighting to emphasize the textures and details in the petals

I think your friend would be pleased w/this shot. Love the rich color & the lighting you created. It's unusual to get a shot of a flower without a 'volunteer,' but they are not always as cute as that little spider. Well done!

Very interesting looking flower. The petals almost look like they are made of ripped paper. Looks like you may want to dial up the flash a bit.

Excellent night shot. It is also on my list of "to try" shots. Gonna be tough to match yours. Glad you did not remove the webs.

Although I did not see the tiny spider until I read your comments, I LOVE him! Now I will never look at this photo without smiling at the tiny spider. I am adding this to my favs as I do not want to lose track of it. Thank you for the smile.
