processing ..
cloned out a stick ..
touch of lucisart/exposure on bee ..
silver efex/full spectrum - i deleted most of it and made multiply blending mode which darkened the areas i kept ..
sharpened ..
color efex pro/glamour glow
selective sharpen on bee ..
adjustment layer in levels ..

after dana aerogurl's comment i lightened the bee a bit ..
and altho it is a flower side challenge, as i understand it the focus doesnt have to be on the flowers .. it can form a background or anything .. as long as there are flowers in it .. :)

after alice sfalice's comment .. these bees are as fast as anything . they alight on a flower for maybe a few seconds and keep moving around most of the time they are on it .. luck and patience are the prerequesites to getting them in focus .. was on manual focus ..

Great DOF to show off the individual flowers as well as the open shape of the plant. And the perfectly focussed bee ;-) Love those little wings!

Love the processing you did on this. Your mastery of these filter effects never ceases to amaze me. And after reading your comment about how fast they are and how you shot manually, this is even better.

We learn so much around you roz! Thank you for sharing this.

Ahhh Roz, you are a master at PS. Beautiful, of course, and the term voyeurism that DryDoc used is a perfect description. Very very well done.

Looks like you sneaked into his domain. Almost voyeurish. Exceptional image. (I think I am simply going to copy and paste that phrases for you from here on out!)

Unless Aussie bees are more docile than USA bees, this is an exceptional capture. It's darned hard to get wings at full extension. Maybe Katie has helped with your reflexes.
:-))

In any event, this is just great, as usual.

love the pink on black look.. wish the bee was a tad lighter to see more detail and make it stand out a bit.. to me, the main focus is on the flower, my eye is instantly drawn to the bottom left corner.. but since this is a floral tourney and not an insect one, good job! :) p.s. i love all the dof areas!
