 This looks like more Photoshop manipulation than it really is. It was a very overexposed shot in camera during a period when the sensor was having a hard time adjusting to the very bright midday sun. I decided to take a few shots while it was whacked out, and this is the result.

Hey, we were encouraged to experiment, no?

BTW, Mexican Hat is the name of this kind of flower. AKA Ratibida columnifera or Ratibida columnaris.

Never seen those flowers before. Really weird what your sensor did with it. Did you notice that one petal looks like it is transparent, just like stained glass?
