This is me teaching Math... I am a High School Math and Physics Teacher... There are no students in the photo due to legal rights and all... I just put my camera on a tripod and leaned the tripod/camera against the blackboard and used the self timer... I took over 50 shots to get it right... I used my old Nikon SB-28 aimed to the ceiling with the built in'bike reflector' diffuser and also white card mainly just to light my hand and the chalk board... the exposure was 1/8 second... so that let in enough light for the rest of the room... I have an 18-200mm Nikkor VR, but quite often I end up using my kit 18-55mm for numerous reasons... I used it here because it has an INCREDIBLY close focusing distance... this picture was taken at 18mm and was NOT cropped... so you can see how close it's focus range is...

Woo Hoo! Finally, I recieved a score over 6!!! not top 10, but that'll be my next goal...

First off, it's summer so there are no kids around to be in the picture...

BUT I actually am teaching summer school... although, as stated above, due to legal rights, I can't take a picture of any students without their parents permission...

I was going to get some co-workers to sit in, but then i realized that If I start asking around, the principal might not let me take any pictures at all.. bla bla bla... so I just didn't say anything and shot it after hours.

Thanks everyone for the comments!!!

Ok, now I'm even more impressed. You win a ribbon with a brand new lens . . . and you teach MATH and PHYSICS!!! Sheeeeeeeeesh. You are truly THE MAN!!! I shudder at so much as a thought of having to do a math problem. I made an A in my college Algebra class, then the minute the grades came out, so much relief drained out of me that all the math info did too. Imediately. :) Great photo for this challenge too.

I don't if there's anyone in the room but the idea is good. The whole picture is a bit dark.

This is one of my favorites in this challenge, though it appears that you're lecturing to an empty classroom. :) (No worries, I've been known to do that on occasion.) Still, I like the effective use of a limited DOF in order to draw attention into the subject. Well done.

Nobody's listening to you? How sad... No, seriously: Would have been better with people in the background.

Nice composition and DOF. The lighting's a little dim, though, and it looks like you're lecturing to an empty classroom. I'm guessing you are, since it'd be hard to do this with a class there!
