 There's a paper mill near my house that emits copious amounts of steam, especially in the morning when it's cold.
I ran neat image, adjusted curves, levels, color balance to pull out the various colors in the steam, resized and ran unsharp mask. I also cloned out a small scaffolding near the bottom because it was distracting and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't eliminate it from the composition while shooting without eliminating the trees as well.

Hello from the Critique Club!

I really like the dramatic effect of the colors in your photo. I even like the border around it.

When I think of sillhouette, I don't think of something like steam, but I think it works okay here. The inclusion of the trees frames it very nicely. Your use of neat image helps the colors and the photo. I think the highlighting of the golden sun around the steam and clouds is what makes this image so strong. Whatever editing of levels you did worked to bring that out perfectly.

I don't recall how this one ended up doing in the challenge, but I like it alot. Good job!

Interesting colours in sky. Not sure about the placement of the sun in the shot, I'd prefer it on one of the thirds junctions. I'd like to see a sharper foreground. Dramatic mood though.
