 Artichoke which was allowed to bloom, taken under some mulberry trees which created the dappled/spotlit effect.

Very well photographed and I love the colours. That purple center begs to be seen more of though. It's too overwhelming a shadow.

I've never seen an artichoke flower before; this is interesting. Looks like something I'd see in a Fall-type dried flower arrangement.

The dark area (looks magenta-ish to me) in the very center comprises the actual reproductive parts of the flower -- the dried "petals" around the outside are just protective leaves.
