Hello from the Critique Club!

I do not check your score or the other comments prior to writing my critique.

First thing I do in a critique is try to figure out on my own which recent challenge it was submitted for. No problem figuring this one out :)

I think this is a very nice shot. I like the stance of the horse, the turn of the rider's head, the swish of the horse's tail and the kicked up dirt. The lighting is not bad, and the colors and clarity are nice and rich.

About the only thing I might change or play with in this shot is to crop in just a bit more for this format. I would like to be able to see a few more of the details better. Maybe even have made this a bit more square format. That's minor though, and really a matter of taste.

You have caught a nice moment here with this shot and I would have given it a 6 during the challenge.

Hope this helps!

Judy

competent shot buit too centered

very nice except for a few small things, A fraction of a second later in the stride would have made his front legs a bit more attractive. They kind of look like they are just dangling instead of working. an off center crop would have given it a little more dynacism (is that a word?) Ears up is always a bonus. NIce, exposure, color, and focus.

Perfect! Great stop action, just the right amount of dof to isolate the subject, beautiful light, strong contrast and colour... I suspect you already know this :)

LOL- It's hard to just give the photo score and not try to give a dressage score, too! But I know how hard these shots are to get...

nice action capture, just wish the rider's shirt was done up and stock in place. The day may have been hot, but the average dressage test lasts only a few minutes.

Looks great and would benefit from a closer crop and deeper DOF.

Normally I could care less about that 2/3's rule(a good shot is a good shot in my book), but having the rider high and centered in the frame makes me look at her and not the horse.
