 This is my little girl's doll that I've been using to practice portrait lighting. I'm just a photo nut who's trying to improve his technique. All sincere and constructive comments will appreciated. Thanks.

Slight exposure adj-brighter
Color correction to bring out more blues/purples
Slight saturation boost
45deg frontlight from right, reflector from left to open shadows and additional light for background to add depth.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments and votes on my little photo. This was my first post on DP Challenge or anywhere. So it's nice to experience a positive outcome. I guess 5th place is ok for starters. I've learned some valuable things about this process already. I can see that the bar is high around here. Looking forward to the next challenge.

Greetings from the critique club.

What can I say, you placed fifth on your first entry. Very well done.

There are a few suggestions I could make to the entry. I like the 45 degree side lighting to your subject and the choice of background. I would have however used a bit of fill light or a reflector on camera left to slightly open up those shadows a bit. I also might have shot this from just a bit lower perspective, you might have been able to get a bit of a catch light in the eye a bit better and not been peering down so much on your subject. Overall I dont think you can complain and have done well for your first entry.

I'm not a good photographer and I haven't had the nerve top post anything yet, but I just love this picture. To me, it's well focused with nice light and shade. I like the composition too.
