This photo was taken of the Mount Timpanogos Temple in Lehi, Utah just prior to a pounding thunder storm. The top of the roof has large lights pointing upwards towards the spire. The outside of the building is a very light colored white/gray granite and is very easily over-exposed under the harsh lighting. Not expecting this to do well but I had fun shooting that night!

nice shot, looks under exposed and over exposed

I like the subtle detail and shading preserved in the dark round window area as a powerful contrast to the long exposure whiteness of the towers.

Is this a negative image? I dont really think that counts as overexposed.

Thanks for clearing that up! :) It really does look like a negative, but i can see now that its not. I like the detail on the front building. Good luck!

Overexposed - yes. Overexposed to the benefit of the image - not really. It just feels like the blown area is just blown, with no real purpose to make the image a more powerful image.

Certainly meeting the challenge, there remains the question of how beneficial the effect is to the overall picture. Getting there.
