Shot in my basement with my studio strobes. I had a hard time keeping the glare off the urethane finish, but finally found the angle that worked. I had a hard time lighting the headstock though, as I only had two lights to work with, and the angle was not conducive to distributing the light across everything without shining light on the backdrops. So I concentrated on the body.
Photoshop was convert from RAW, curves, hue sat to reduce the yellow and green tones, selective color to boost the red's, black and white at 25% opacity over the chrome parts, dodging, burning, cloning out some minor finish imperfections, resize, usm, save for web.
I'll get beat up for it looking a little more like an ad, but that's ok with me. |

Hi Aaron,
Apologies for taking so long with the comments.. :)
Was busy setting up the next challenge shot.
I love the feel of this shot. The lighting and all. In all, it is very well setup.
Perhaps it's the perspective/ angle that's making the guitar look "fat".
Give it a little more tilt.
As it is, it's great. I love it all the same. :)
Cheers
Eric. |

Great concept on this. I think I would rather see more lighting at the further end though. If I was shopping for a product I think I'd like to see the complete item. Also the small reflection above the dials is a distraction. |

Fit Challenge Criteria: 2/2
Contrast/Color: 2/2
Composition: 2/2

My Subjective Affinity: 2/2
Excellent work here. It's nice to finally see a photo that took more thought than simply grabbing a camera quickly and shooting something as it passes by, and trying to pass it off as a product shot. The placement of the guitar is perfect, with just enough room on all sides to really make it stand out, but not look crowded in the frame. The lighting is spot on, and the guitar is perfectly sharp. I really like the light trailing off on the guitar strings. Excellent photograph. |

a beautiful shot. I would bump higher if there was a bit more light on the neck. |

I'd like more negative space but I like the lighting and perspective. |
