Challenge: Proportion (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon PowerShot A70
Location: Downtown
Date: Apr 23, 2004
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: Auto
Shutter: 1/3
Galleries: Urban, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Apr 24, 2004

I was walking about downtown looking for Proportion possibilities, and was looking for my car to go home because it was getting dark when I passed by a group of people getting ready to film something -- an album cover, a video, hard to say. They had these enormous lights on and I took advantage of one to catch this shadow.

The crop is unusual, no doubt! I weeded out unnecessary elements in the shot, and decided that the long crop supported this image as an entry in this particular challenge. It's recursive -- in a way, the proportions of the image speak to the challenge of Proportion as well.

Ha, You like this shot, coz it makes you look thin!!!
Actually it is pretty cook. A shame that the movement in the background looks like out of focus. Probably using a faster shutter would help, but as the aperature was already at 2.8, you obviously were lacking light somewhat.

Very good idea but the shot leave me wanting more. The composition of the shot seems off, lack of focus and the cropping also seems off to me. The way the shadow got cut off on the left. I do like the fact that I can't see the camera shadow, a lot of people forget about that and it usually ruins the shot for me. A 3

Did you try one with your right arm at your side amd taking the shot with your left?

The image would have worked better with the model (and all of the shadow) in the frame.

The reverse panorama works really well with an overly long shadow. I would say though that the image looks slightly out of focus in places and there are some jaggedy lines in top right of corner which distract.

Fits the challenge nicely, and I like the interesting crop.
