Yorktown Va, also known as "The Place Where Independence Was Won".
No, I don't live on the battlefield but this place is important to me. I was born and raised here and then left for military service. Returned last May. I'm proud to be from a place with so much historical significance to the United States.
I was going to go with color but I decided to go with an older look. I shot this on f22 and that explains the specks. Could have cloned them out but I liked the way they looked. Added some noise and grain and quadtone. Also used Auto Levels for the hell of it. Not a ton of editing done here. Probably won't do well but I like the results, and that in my opinion is all that matters. Some guide books will show photos from a long time ago. This I imagine is what my hometown would have looked like if camera's were aound in the 18th century.

Removing the noise would have made a much better image. Perhaps using a more shallow DOF to (only just) put the trees out of focus would help to draw attention back on the subjects.

I thiink the grain works here, however the dust spots take away from this shot.

A bit too grainy for my taste.

Was this of another shot or just made to look old?

I like the composition, and the grain does add to the overall "sense and feel" of the picture. Maybe more of sepia tone instead of black/white would have been more effective.
