 The family was hanging out at my parents' house the other day. I was wandering around looking for a good accidental letter (which I found...scoring about a 6.45 at the moment!) and stumbled upon these wonderful little flowers. They are pretty small (about 1cm in diameter). They were growing right next to a cement block, and I thought they looked great against the predominantly gray background. Good thing I had the 100mm macro in hand! Natural afternoon sunlight (shade).

Simple and elegant - I like how the petals on the lower flower are slightly blemished - adds a lovely realness to this. Color, shallow DOF, background, lighting - all excellent.

Dang, I almost fell asleep looking at your photo! Just kidding... I wanted to think this was a photo of Valerian Root: a medication used to treat people with severe sleepwalking - but I think it's not. It is however, a lovely photo and I hope it does well. I'm giving it a 10 as I see nothing wrong with it photographically and everything right.
