Well, this is the most effort (and money) that I've ever put into a challenge ... the Dorothy costume was made by me about 10 years ago ... still had the socks but the ruby slippers disappeared! I've scoured every Halloween costume shop around looking for something other than platform stripper shoes ... finally found exactly what I wanted this morning. The yellow brick road is actually a piece of tile paneling from Home Depot ... painted yellow to give it some contrast and I also colored in the grout lines to give it depth ... I wanted to show more of it, but we needed to cut it in half to get it home (long story, brake lines in the truck went out ... ). Sure wish this was advanced editing because I'd LOVE to clone out the bugs and dirt that ended up in the shot ... Anyway, I'm hoping my effort pays off and this shot is well received by the voters ... I think it definitely meets the challenge and it surely says 'color' to me ...

basic editing ... crop, channel mixer, brightness/contrast, shadow/highlight, sharpen and save for web

it's a cool shot, could use a bit different method of toning with a higher contrast, maybe. Your numeric score doesn't tell the tale--it just was a low scoring challenge. 57th of 235 is not a bad result!

The only entry in the contest that I gave a 10. I am appalled this scored so low. I was certain this would at least ribbon. I will absolutely never never never understand the voting mentality on this site. Oh well, it's a very cool shot!

My immediate thought was, "follow the yellow brick road!" ;)

Fantastic intrepretation! Everyone knows the ruby slippers and blue/white gingham dress...which is exactly what I saw! There seems to be some debris on the bricks, but other than that, very well executed!

One of the ones I think most says "Color". Congrats on a great idea!
