 Wow! This challenge taught me how little I know about studio lighting! It was great to force me to learn and get out of my comfort zone. My goal is to not embarrass myself or my lovely wife who was such a patient model. I'll be satisfied with at least a 5.5 and a finish in the top 50%.

I have no flash or strobes. This was shot with a single 100w tungsten desk lamp with a reflector. I used a black panel to block the light from the background. I underexposed by 1 stop. As for postprocessing, the more I tried the worse it got, so I kept it quite simple.

the severe crop to her head is very distracting here, as is the fact that her one eye is almost totally dark. I think a reflector to open up that side of the face, and a more normal crop would have made a huge difference here.

Still she is a very pleasing model with nice skin tones. 5
