I rather like the complementary earthy tones of the background.

I like the composition and those deep blacks on the antennae and "hands". I must agree with the others about the focus.

Interesting insect. Love the texture. I do agree the focus is off.

your focus seems to be a bit off, but I like the colors and composition. Imo a bit more sharpening or contrast and a little more saturation and you'll have a winner ;)

Strong in all the elements, color, composition, detail, textures, and crop.

This is a very interesting bug. I see several areas that I would like to see a lot closer. The vein pattern in the wings, or the rough area right behind the head would make great subjects. I do understand that you can't always get living critters to cooperate when you want to photograph them though.

Very nice composition and colors. Seems a bit soft -- a bit more sharpening during processing might help.

It is a beautiful subject, and the colours are rich without being overwhelming.

The image could use better sharpness and a tidier composition. You probably couldn't do this without scaring off the subject, but moving the brownish branches out of the way might have helped. Sometimes you can set up at a place, and then wait for the bugs to stop by and then you can shoot them. :)

Great coloring, it does seem to be a tad bit soft, but he probably moved a bit.

Def. at this magnification its a macro. I cant read the EXIF on it and the details are there. looks to be a touch of movement which hurts the sharpness. You really need to up the shutter speed or use flash to freeze the subject. I'd also like to see the whole hopper or going with a tighter crop to isolate what you are focusing on. Its almost as if you couldnt decide whole subject or highlight a specific spot, so you went in between, either way is good, but this just seems like an odd crop to me. Good start cant wait to see what the next 9 will bring.

What a patient fella! With macro at the end of your lens, you should be able to get closer but I think this still qualifies as a macro. I really like the colors and the details on his back, I wish the focus was a tad sharper.

I love the details on the hoppers back! It does look like a big wind was blown and it has been holding on for a while! Good shot overall.

Amazing details on his back.
How do you prevent them from jumping away? When I tried a similar shot I never got near enough.
