I like how you've got the butterfly in such good focus, although I find that the leaf on the right of the pic seems to take over a bit. Perhaps it could be cropped slightly. |

Hi Waddy, this is really nice, the detail that you got on that little guy, it's amazing. (your tips on macro have helped me a lot, thanks again!) |

Nice how you got the entire butterfly in the plane of focus. (Agree with others that selective darkening of leaf at bottom would be useful.) |

Nice capture Waddy. Detail and toning on the butterfly is excellent. My only down point, I suppose, is the harsh light on the leaf to the right drawing my eye away from the butterfly. Maybe a bit of selective S & H in photoshop. |

Very good detail and DoF... the lighting around the body of the butterfly does seem to be just a tad harsh, but that may be a little to nit picky! Great capture. |

Hmmm. I hope not to offend here. Not sure how "honest" we're supposed to be in these side challenges (I've only done a couple over the years).
At first glance this image is fine. It's interesting and pulls the viewer in for a deeper examination of the subject.
The objective 'DPCr' in me sees another item or two: The most obvious being the lighting. It's a little strong. While that's good for getting the details it can also be a tad harsh. The leaf underneath the butterfly is what really makes me bring this up. The leaf is washing out instead of being yellow/green. Because of the washout the leaf blends in with the butterfly somewhat. Did you consider using a CP during this time of day? Sometimes a polarizer can add color depth in non-traditional ways. Just a thought.
Another consideration is to create a duplicate layer, multiply mode, and try fading to see what it does for the color and highlights.
Geez. I hope I'm not being an ornery bugger. ??? |

Beautiful. I like the composition and DOF, and nice sharp focus. Flipping this image horizontally might give it just a touch more appeal -- lots of viewers like things better that face the right. (I'm ambidextrous, so I don't care about that, but some people do.) The other thing I suggest is dodging the face (soft light white brush at 8-12% opacity) to give it just a bit of fill light. |

Stunning, stunning, stunning.....
I like the soft colors and detail of the butterfly against that wonderful soft muted greens tones with the DOF background.
This image just please me so very much.
Welcome to 'macro' world..... |
