Lily and the Lion
Excerpt
This done, they were riding away well pleased, when up sprang a fierce lion, and roared out, ’Whoever has stolen my roses shall be eaten up alive!’ Then the man said, ’I knew not that the garden belonged to you; can nothing save my life?’ ’No!’ said the lion, ’nothing, unless you undertake to give me whatever meets you on your return home; if you agree to this, I will give you your life, and the rose too for your daughter.’
OK, it's a stretch, but I figured I'd shoot first and then see what I could find to fit.

After reading the story a few more times, I don't think it's a stretch at all. I even think the lighting is right, with the bit of "torch-light" falling on his head. He must remain in the shadows.
Read the story and see if you agree!

The blue cast and the strong light on the upper mane are bothering me a bit... but not enough to bring it down from a strong 7. |

pretty good details in the face but the almost green tint is quite unusual |

I love lions, but the back-lighting just doesn't succeed for me here. It looks too blue. |

My goodness, that was yet another story I've not read before. Rough life for poor Lily, I must say. Not sure why your lion is blue; maybe this was taken before his Lily found him again? Might be too subtle. I suspect a golden lion would score better and probably better represent his lion incarnation. So I'd either do this in B&W or maybe sepia, or hue-shift him to gold. |

Color seems off. A bluish cast in the "face". Personally I don't mind the border, but you're going to knocked around a bit on that. Good luck. |

I can always identify another PSP user by the borders used. I need to locate some new ones, or learn how to make a frame file.
The blue tone works, and has a storybook feel to it, except for the bright area at the top that shows this lion is in the shade. |

The lighting really makes this an interesting shot, and IMO gives it a very fairytale look! Well done! |

Brilliant! At first I didn't understand why he was almost totally in shadow but then I read the story. This is a great interpretation of the story and such a beautiful portrait of a lion, so sharp. Well done! |
