POST: Thanks for all the comments. Never would have imagined a top 10 in this challenge. One aspect of this image I absolutely love is the timing of the birds. They are each performing the same behavior, just a second or two off pace.


Here is the spot from which I took the shot. I went back the next day, but this guy was well entrenched. So he became my Affluence entry. glad2badad saw the connection!

This was one of my 10's in this challenge. I am very happy to see that it did well. I thought this was a wonderful image with the colour, the reeds sort of framing the birds, and the birds being placed in a great spot.

You did a great job with the composition of this and deserve to be at the top of this challenge. congrats. :)

Anyone that takes the time to teach three wildfowl to synchronise their movements just for the sake of a photo deserves to do well -

" ok - guy at the back start eating, number two wait for it . . wait for it . .ok go ! whadda think you are doing number 3 ?? I said WAIT !! "

This is one of my favorite ones in this challenge!
I just love the golden tone, and the "frame" of the water plants/reflections.

I came back to this a day later and adjusted your score. It went up in case your wondering. Maybe I'll check it again tomorrow and go up even further...
It's a very nice shot and I love the colors. I would have tried to make the green pop a bit more than it's current state. Beautiful composition. Actually after writing my critique I'm adding another point because a few things came to light after closer look. Congrats on your 8

I love this shot, the colour and movement in the water is just gorgeous. And those birds - what crazy beaks they have! The reflections of the reeds frames it beautifully, all in all a wonderful photo!

I'm kind of torn on this one. I like the composition and DOF and the detail on the birds, and the patterns in the foreground ripples. The yellow ... kind of overwhelms the image. It's not a color that complements little brown birds. But you lose all the drama if you desaturate it and I'm not sure a hue shift would look natural. Gee, that was helpful, wasn't it? ;-p

Absolutely gorgeous image in terms of the 3 birds themselves, the shapes of water surface, the reeds and their reflections and the way they frame the composition. But that colour seems too rich to be real! Is it??
